Paul Maheke 'As The Days Move Into Nights (The Green Ray)' is part of a series of drawings which delves further into the artist’s interest in the invisible realm. The title evokes a moment of transition: a movement, whilst also alluding to the green ray, an optical phenomena that can only be seen under certain latitudes, when the sun is either rising or setting and that suddenly its last ray turns green.

For this series of work on paper, the artist imagines the green ray as a gateway into the unknown. Asking questions of visibility and representation, these images can be seen as a way of tuning with other realities. While toying with the impossible task to render the eerie, or the strange, familiar, it explores the tenuous border between the visible and the invisible.
