Hand made Anodized aluminium wire, brass rods and plastic beads
92 x 98 x 35 cm

Walter Oltmann’s work reveals a profound engagement with themes of transformation, transience, and the natural world. Created following his receipt of the Edoardo Villa Extraordinary Award for Sculpture, the sculptures from this series showcase meticulous hand-weaving in wire and emphasise slow, meditative processes. Drawing inspiration from camouflage, insect forms, and organic structures, Oltmann investigates cycles of life, extinction, and renewal. Building on ideas previously explored in ‘A Quiet Focus’ (2022–3), his practice continues a thoughtful dialogue with materiality and time, inviting contemplation through care, repetition, and quiet attention.
