Acrylic paint and wallpaper paste on paper
Paper

Yto Barrada’s Paste Papers series draws on the 18th-century bookbinding tradition of decorative paper, reimagined through her playful, experimental approach to material and form. Created during the pandemic lockdown using paste, pigment, and household tools, these vibrant works reflect Barrada’s ongoing engagement with pedagogical methods, feminist craft, and the intersection of abstraction and archival practice. Each sheet becomes both a formal exercise and a record of intuitive gestures, rooted in domesticity and historical reference.
