Ghada Amer speaks with Brooklyn Rail
01 Oct 2021
Artist Ghada Amer speaks with editor Amanda Gluibizzi in Brooklyn Rail about her exhibition at Marianne Boesky Gallery, The Women I Know Part II.
In her 2021 exhibition, Amer presents a series of portraits that intertwine line drawings with embroidered text, creating a dialogue between image and language. These works, featuring both personal acquaintances and figures from erotic imagery, challenge traditional representations of women by layering visual and textual elements that both reveal and obscure.
