Jeremy WaferRichmond Fence, 2017
Digital print
70 x 50 cm

Jeremy Wafer’s work spans sculpture, photography, video, and drawing, engaging deeply with the politics and poetics of place. Rooted in South Africa’s social, cultural, and political geography, his practice explores themes of land, territory, location, dislocation, possession, and dispossession. Over four decades, Wafer has employed a range of materials and forms to investigate how landscapes, both natural and constructed, serve as sites of memory, identity, and historical narrative. ‘Richmond Fence’ continues Wafer’s investigation into systems of meaning, location, and control through a visual language that draws on both industrial signage and minimalist form.
