
Vanessa Peterson Explores the Home and Art Practice of Ghanian Master painter Atta Kwami

The hot-hued, geometric paintings of Atta Kwami were strongly influenced by music, especially of the improvisational kind – and it was in his terrace house in Loughborough that the late Ghanaian artist found his working rhythm alongside his wife, Pamela Clarkson Kwami. The artist explains to Vanessa Peterson how the syncopation of sharing ideas and commenting on each other’s pieces-in-progress made for a simpatico studio life.
